I have a time machine in my living room

T'other week, I were lounging on the couch watching a programme on the television. I were half way through an hour long programme when I suddenly remembered I had to be somewhere else. At first I was distraught at the thought of missing the rest of the programme when I suddenly remembered I had a Sky+ Box and I could record it
So I pressed "record" and toddled off to be where I'd forgotten I had to be.
A few days later I thought "I know, I'll watch the rest of that programme from off of the telly what I missed" and duly selected it from the selection of recorded stuff.
However, when I hit "play" I expected the programme to resume from the point I'd pressed the "record" button. Imagine my surprise when the recording started at the start of the programme!!
Surely the only logical explanation is the sky box started recording half an hour before I told it to? Or is it actually a time machine which rewound time to record the programme from the start?
Can anyone explain this?
Have I had too much wine?

Do you have a 'rewind live TV' function?
You'll find that it automatically records any programme you are watching from the beginning in case you want to go back and start again.

Yes what he said. They record everything, all the time. Some of the boxes I've had let you set how far back they record (or rather, how long they keep it), but the more modern ones wither don't have that setting, the old ones were more limited for space on the hard drive, or I'm so old I leave understanding gadgets to the teenager.

The gremlins which live in the magical box of in-head visions, can predict the future, and knew you would want to record it, so they started painting it all down from the beginning on their magical gremlin paper made from recycled elfs... Not sure if that proves or disproves the existance of god though...

I was too late to reply - was going to say much what Mu Beta said (but Ms Stress doesn't really believe it).
Howsomever, I too, have a Time Machine - attached to my mac, for backups.
And yep there's a god. An anti-rod god.
My printer (on WiFi) stopped working. Now it's working again, on USB.
My Time Machine stopped working and it seems that IT is the WiFi transmitter (is that the correct description?) and I can't fix it.
So, swl, consider yourself lucky with the name you chose and that it didn't begin with R, followed by...
