BMT

This is probably one reason why my convo list doesn't exceed 34 pages. smiley - erm Why folks can't be adult and deal with issues in an appropriate manner, in the appropriate, clearly marked places, without resorting to personal abuse and slanging matches is beyond me. Time to take my leave of this thread now.
I'll stick with the proper feedback threads.

Hi all - I do understand that people really care about H2G2. And that any change like this will rouse strong passions. But please do not start harrassing people. We are listening to your feedback, so please try and keep it civil.

Thanks

Nick, thanks for engaging in this conversation with us. We are all apssionate about this site, but I agree with BMT. We shouldn't behave like children who throw their toys out of the pram.

What BMT said. smiley - ok

Nick, would it help at all if a couple of volunteers kept a running list of specific problems/bugs? Some have never made it to the feedback forum, others are hidden lower down in threads there, and there are a lot of duplicates. It'll be quite a task for DYE (or whoever) to wade through and find them...

I've been thinking that too Mal. Even if it's not useful for TPTB it would be useful for the community to have a clear list and look at what's really important to us and what we can let go in the meantime.

Oh and I'm busy for the next while but could help with such a list this evening (in about 8 hours from now).

I've asked the H2G2 Editors to compile a list of bugs. I don't want to tie people here down with unnecessary work. But if volunteers want to keep one to share with the Editors that's fine.

Thanks

Nick, I'm really appreciating your posting too. I can't emphasise enough the importance of letting us know what is going on, even if it's brief updates. We (most of us <winkeye) get where and how to leave feedback, and understand now that they're being read and listened to. The problem is that there is very little communication coming back to us. We still have no idea which features have been left out intentionally.

I'm sure that this will be sorted out this week (fingers crossed), and I understand there are real time and financial constraints, but I do really feel like your team has dropped the ball on this in this respect - *if* we had been told on Friday that there were problems, and we'd been able to have a dialogue about that, even briefly, then most of us would have spend the weekend testing and doing things like collating a clear list of what's missing and why it's important. As it is, it seems like there are now huge amounts of backlog for the Eds to work through and most of that is unnecessary panic that wouldn't have happened if we'd been kept in the loop and *talked with*.

Feedback processes need to go both ways.

Effers;England.

I find it utterly unbelievable that I'm being asked not to contact a company for a simple request about their thinking regarding a job they've done.

Effers - if you have specific questions please put them on H2G2 (maybe on Feedback or a new post) or on the blog post. I can get Paul to respond in comments on the blog if I or the Editors can't answer them.

Thanks

Because, Effers, it won't just be you. Others will do it. And as evidenced by the comments people have made about Noohootoo, not everything they get sent will be a simple request. They'll get rants, and accusations and abuse. I think it's quite reasonable to ask that you don't contact them.

I am truly saddened by the bullying and abusive postings within this thread.

To rant and rave at people for just doing their jobs is not good enough.

BBC Staff are NOT here to be abused.

Use your commonsense, you still HAVE the old system. You are not obliged to use barlesque for the time being - so calm down.

No and neither are Licence Fee payers..who struggle to get the money together each year. having their posts censored for expressing perfectly reasonable free speech.

Being perfectly reasonable, Effers, it not to issue threats or abuse.

You are not the only BBC licence holder in Hootoo. Nothing has been wasted, it WILL be sorted given time. Just remember how long it took for things to settle down under Brunel when things were being tinkered around. We did not behave in this fashion.

Please calm down and see what comes in the next few weeks.

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

Oh grow up, Effers. Changing this site is not abuse of the licence payer, nor is removing a post which breaches the House Rules. You're starting to remind me of those people who think they can boss public servants around because "my taxes pay your wages".

smiley - applause Bel and others with a sense of proportion!

This is a major redesign that people are expecting to be perfect from the very beginning. Harassing the Italics and the contractor the BBC commissioned to do the work (the BBC mind you and NOT the license payer!) is unhelpful.

If people have issues then please have the decency to do as asked and leave feedback in the appropriate forums so that the team can get on and put things right quickly. Then we can have a great new fresh noohootoo and get on with our mad existence!
