Diana Posted Sep 12, 2000
I like Nine Inch Nails. A lot.
Is Hooverphonic from the US?

R143860. I'm not aware of any a.t.t. ut, then again, I'm not a 'Deadhead', either. Did catch Dylan this summer and enjoyed the show.
Most memorable show I can recall was *please, don't stike me* Rod Stewart. A real showman.
Really tho, I'm just not qualified to make the call for the best performing band. Like to catch Tina Turner, tho.

hmmm... This is a hard question, there are so many good bands out there.
Here is a very short list of bands I like in no particular order:
Bon Jovi
Santana
Kirkmount (local)
Salsa Brava (local)
Dem Broklyn Bums
Swingorillas
Collective Soul
There are others too.

Possibly should have said "would like to catch the Tina Turner Revue show". But, if someone were to throw her, as a long time admirer, I would do anything I could to soften her landing. Not that far behind her chronologically, but, wish I had half as much vitality as she does.
some female artists:
Joni Mitchell
Tina Turner
Patti LaBelle
Sade
Melissa Etherege
Tracy Chapman
Patsy Cline
Ella Fitzgerald
Mahalia Jackson

Here are some more bands I thought of and thanks for reminding me that we are not just talking about current artists.
Glen Miller (Thanks for the reminder)
Duke Ellington (The Duke)
BB King (The King)
Eric Clapton (Check out "Riding with the King" A joint venture by BB King and Clapton.)
Billy Joel (What showsmanship! A must-see for live entertainment)
Manhattan Transfer (Vocal Jazz)
Manheim Steamroller (very very cool, what more can I say?)
Must see?

I once paid an arm and a leg for tickets for a concert with Elton John and Billy Joel together. As it turned out, I couldn't go because of other commitments, it poured, and Billy Joel didn't even turn up. I had already seen Elton John twice and had thought even before they did how great it would be to hear them performing together. BJ's comments and actions at the time have put me off him. I still very much like his songs, though, and "Leningrad" makes me cry every time.
If we're still nit-picking, I would like to point out that Eric Clapton is not American...

PJ Harvey. Tori Amos.
And, outta the USA... Shirley Manson of Garbage, and that one chick from Curve, and Bjork.
There are many more in both groups that I can't think of now, I'm sure.

And since we're being pedantic, Bjork is Icelandic.
