Carol Bartz from yahoo has said that Google will have problems if it doesn't diversify its business.
What I know about the companies is below and to me google seems fairly diverse. Does she really have a valid point or is just getting yahoo into the media?
Google
Search
Android - Mobile market and tablet market
Chrome OS
Youtube
Blogger
Chrome
Google Desktop
Sketchup
Google online stuff (email, docs etc)
web hosting
Yahoo
Mail
Groups
"Yahoo has more than 70 websites and services, many of which are available in 20 languages around the world."
I know of hardly any of them, I hate having to use yahoo it has an awful layout which is full of intrusive adverts and celeb news and not much else.
I can't see Google going anywhere soon, and yahoo I believe has some deal with Microsoft so I doubt that will go anywhere.

That's true. I think for a lot of people google is the internet.
I think "googling" or "to google" became a verb in 2004

On a different note, *I* think that the *users* will have to diversify lest the majority of applications are located within the same company. While from such a company's point of view that might be a good idea, I think that the users will not benefit from such a monopoly. Plus, Google's hunger for my personal data / profiles is quite annoying.
That said, while I am fairly happy with Google's search engine's performance, I am growing fond of www.ixquick.com, which performs well, does not store any private data, and opens links automatically in a new tab - which is splendid.
But on the issue of the original post... That yahoo lady sounds a bit off(ish).
Y.

Google buys Bumptop a 3d desktop manager that I find quite cool. So it seems google is diversifying and quite quickly too, it's been buying a lot of companies recently.

Something I know Yahoo for is trying to get their bloody toolbar on my browser.

Oh yeah, cunningly named BHO's, Browser Helper Objects. I accidentally installed one once and it took me ages to try and work out how to get rid of the damn thing.

Yahoo has been going round buying lots of services and being very diverse. Google got good at one thing and then has used its huge revenues to do lots of other things on the side.
Yahoo is struggling to survive with constant rumours of a buy out. Google is seen as underperforming if it doesn't grow more than 200% per year.
Exactly why should Google consider for a moment advice from Yahoo?
