menthol,
Well I hope our next Prime Minister (whoever he may be), isn't paranoic about aliens
The cost of 'star wars' is one thing we CERTAINLY don't need on top of everything else!

The peoples of Earth have always, up to now, been belligerant and possessive.....
This may not be a bad thing when you look at the wider picture. Think about it. Almost all of Man's Technological advances have come from an almost overwhelming need to produce them.....
The need???
To win a War!!!

I think he may be alluding to the author Fred Saberhagan, and a novel called 'Beserker'
To which I should have replied Cherryh = Kutath, Shon-Jir, Kesrith....

Of course 'they' could be machines. What do machines think and how would they behave towards sentient animals ?

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted May 3, 2010
I'm still not letting them anywhere near my bacon, unless they ask very* nicely... A bit of pliteness can go a long way, and I don't see any excuess for alien lifeforms not to at least attempt a simple bit of decorum and show some level of being able to replicate polite social graces whilst in the presence of earthlings...

Beware. The alien lifeforms of my acquaintance usually develop in my fridge, and they are definitely unfriendly.
