Was discussing the vagaries of my computer recently and realised it's very similar to my car. I often have intermittent faults that are never apparent in the presence of a mechanic It's a syndrome, I'm sure, just don't know the right name...

Very true - a garage once had my car for a whole month trying to discover the intermittent fault which meant it would just *not start. They couldn't. They brought it back and the very next day it had to be towed in again

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
