OK. There are two problems: one, Earthbound spelling; and second, far more important; the conveyance of the appropriate Spirit to our guests!
So far I have: "Cheers!", " Yamas!", " Skol!", " Prosit!" "Nasdrovia!", "Le Chaim!", "Bien Tot!", " Slavas!", " Veelkommen!"" Yhavas!", " Thol!" and:
"Good Party, Eh?"(Canadian; add it to your personal lexicon; generally spoken immediately preceding the phrase, " any more hooch? ")
So.
I need help with spelling - plus phonetic pronounciation, please -
however; my goal is to compile a comprehensive list of "toasts".
AWWright, thn, them, 5ththen,, rite!
PLT, Mick.

'Prost' or 'Prosit' is fine in Germany. I've got the Scottish one somewhere at home, but that will have to wait for later.
What about the traditional 'Good Health'? (Along with cirrhosis of the liver, after too many drinks!)

PS When I first saw the forum title, I thought it was going to be a request for recipes for putting little green men in the toaster or under the grill!

According to 'Whisky Galore' (and Compton Mackenzie should know), the Gallic (Scottish Gaelic) toast is: "Slainte mhath", pronounces 'Slahnje vah'. The response is: "Slainte mhor", pronounced 'Slahnje vor'.
There's a grave accent over the 'a' in 'Slainte', and an acute accent over the 'o' in 'mhor', but I can't be bothered to do them.
Key: Complain about this post
