i have a terribly embarrassing question that perhaps someone could help me with...
i've discovered, only recently, that i have...um..."spots" on my buttocks. i'm very clean and this worries me terribly...i've not had them there before....perhaps my diet has changed? perhaps the vitamins i'm taking? is it stress?
i've tried creams, astringents and toners, and nothing seems to work. has anyone got any suggestions to rid myself of this problem with a fierce quickness?

What do mean by 'spots' - is it a rash type of spot thing, is it ordinary 'teenage' type of spot. Also have you changed anything in your lifestyle? Well, until later........

Well, I am not sure what kind of spots you are referring to (butt), here is what I know skin spots. If the spots are growing, changing shape, color and/or texture, then get your buttocks in to see a Doctor, soon.

Do you mean isolated spots or a rash? Richard (my husband) and I get isolated spots from time to time. We can't think of a reason why we get them and they disappear after a couple of days. Both of us are 'clean' (i.e., shower daily), so it shouldn't be dirt, and anyway the spots only occur infrequently. Neither of us worries about them that much.
Sometimes you can get a rash if your bum gets sweaty. That happened to Richard a while ago, and I jokingly referred to it as 'nappy rash'. (Well, it formed under similar circumstances!) Richard was *not* amused.
If it's not the occasional spot, and it's not caused by getting sweaty, and it's worrying you, see a doctor ASAP.

no, it doesn't seem to be a rash, really...more like little pimples. it's terribly ugly, more than painful, and doesn't itch at all.
sweat may be the cause; i run a lot, and have been exercising daily.
should i just keep it very powdery and dry? douse my bum in baby powder? HELP!

Cheerful Dragon Posted Aug 4, 2000
I don't think Richard did anything in particular. He's not here so I can't ask him if your spots sound anything like his. I do recall that he said his rash was irritating and uncomfortable, but I don't know about 'more than painful'. He does shower daily and only wears pure cotton underpants, which are more absorbent and allow the skin to breath. He also changes when he gets home from work, right down to and including his underpants, making sure his buttocks are dry before he puts fresh ones on.
Feel free to use baby powder. I don't know whether it will help, but I'm sure your partner will have fun applying it. (Assuming you have one!)

yeah...i make sure to shower right after i exercise, and once again when i get home from work. but in my job, i get sweaty a lot, so maybe the powder is the way to go.
as for my partner, i suppose maybe he'd be okay with helping me powder up! although i feel a little awkward about it.....
suppose they'll go away after a while, i hope....? you say his didn't last very long?

Cheerful Dragon Posted Aug 5, 2000
His cleared up after a day or two, so if you've still got yours it may be something different. As I said, if it worries you, go see the doctor. Richard says that the key to dealing with his was to keep clean and leave it alone.
Hope yours clears up soon!

There is a possibility that it may be an allergic reaction if you have changed your washing powder. Try a non-bio.
Other than that, Oxy-10 type spot cream might be a help; but use it with caution.
Also - drink more water. It may not help directly but its good for you anyway

i have actually changed washing powder recently, to a liquid detergent. and also, it is true i don't consume nearly enough water for the energy i put out on a daily basis.
as for the oxy...i think i'll try it. but what's the caution? will i grow a third butt cheek?

I know our boy is sensitive to some brands of laundry detergent and not others, but breaks out all over,(wherever clothes are) not in an isolated area. He did have what sounds like a similar problem recently, however. We tried everything we could think of - ointments, etc- what finally worked was a cream obtained by prescription, so I don't have either a generic or brand name (it was dispensed by a pharmacist). All I can tell you is it contains Ketoconazole 2% and CP-HC 1%. A doctor or pharmacist would probably recognize it; good luck!
PLT, Mick.

It sounds to me like a heat/sweat rash. I know that your underwear makes a difference. What I mean is that the material they are made out of. Cotton are the best because they breath. When I wear nylon or polyester they don't breath as well therefore the rash happens. Try and go butt naked when you sleep and do your wash without detergent for a few days or use the one you have used before but it usually takes two wahses to get the old detergent out. I found this all out the hard way and with lots of laundry. I excersize and find that the tighter the clothing the more you sweat. Good luck and hope it goes away. Go to the medic if your really concerned, you should know if you have any doubts- Go see!!! Thats what Doctors are there for Buttocks and all

3 buttocks isn't really "completely different" as the general conversation was about buttocks anyway. Sure, it was different to some extent but just not completely
