My Gran used to sing a song that went:
Spotty and Dotty were two little dogs

the logs rolled over the dogs fell in
they got very wet cos their coats were thin
bow wow bow wow bow wow
oh dear lackety bow wow wow
Spotty and Dotty went hurrying home
then I can't remember anymore can anybody help please

When and where did your Granny grow up, Sally?
On Google, there is only one hit for the first line of the song. It is on a genealogy web site where one family have discovered that their parents all sang them the same songs.

Is that your gran as opposed to your nan? We had a discussion about this here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/F19585?thread=6598844&show=20&skip=60#p80525407

My Dad used to sing me to sleep with that song. I sang it to my children and am now singing it to my grandchildren. The lyrics I was taught go like this:
Spotty and Dotty were two little dogs
One day they went sailing on two floating logs
But the logs rolled over and they fell in
And they got very wet for their coats were thin.
Bow-wow-wow! Holy rackety, bow-wow-wow!
Spotty and Dotty went shivering home
They vowed that on water they never would roam
And they won't go sailing 'til they know how
And they won't get as wet as they are right now.
Bow-wow-wow! Holy rackety, bow-wow-wow!
