Still...it's said that in The Kesh the IRA worked on their education while the UVF worked on their biceps.

That's actually a bit of a misrepresentation, though. One of the real minds behind the change in politics in NI, who probably deserves a lot more recognition, was the founder of the UVF, Gusty Spence. In many cases he got people to think about social issues and questions they'd never even asked before they landed in jail.
While the PUP's still very much a minority party, I think his ideas definitely reached a wider audience than the party he founded did.

Don't get me wrong King Bomba I did get a lot out of school..I had plenty of teachers that DID show me and did encourage me.Most of them were in the Secondary Modern I attended for 5 years.
The year I left most of those teachers retired having served something like 150 years between them in education..

Oh, me too. But there were one or two bits of well, "timetabled skiving" in there too, let's say.
