Interesting Kaz. Didn't know the origins - the cemetary stuff - makes sense (in a way).
Yes, quite agree with you that is has turned into yet another 'money making' venture, turning ancient philosophies and beliefs into trendy nonsense.
The other point is that probably Feng Shui was one part of a more complete view of things which went with other parts of a more complex belief system.

Hi Az
'The other point is that probably Feng Shui was one part of a more complete view of things which went with other parts of a more complex belief system.'
Oh definately, it took into account their religion and folk traditions. There is also a similar version in India called Vastu Viddya, I also read of another culture having a similar system but I am afraid my brain has run out of space and I didn't remember that one!
I love this site
http://www.qi-whiz.com/Debunking/flutesNmirrors.html
it honours the long history of Feng Shui whilst debunking the modern view of it, such as crystals which were never used in Feng Shui in China, although they may now!
It also talks baout plants, I have read some feng shui books which say you can use a silk plant as a cure. Surely if you want to bring life and growth into your home and life then a real plant would be must better?!
Anyway, theres a lot to that site and I must have a longer read of it, I may find out everything I thought I knew about feng shui was wrong as well!
