Sounds like Dumbarton Rock, the ancient seat of the Kingdom of Strathclyde. You can see why. Any invading army turning the corner and seeing their enemy holed up in the castle on the rock is just going to say "Oh FFS!"

You can still see the stumps of pilings sticking out of the Clyde near there where they used to keep all the timbers to be used in shipbuilding immersed to season them.

Have they finally rid themselves of the cranes then?
The last of my relatives there died in the mid 90s and they were still great monuments even then.
I think they should leave one or two like they have in Glasgow. At the very least they're great monuments to the past.

Chic Murray:

They said 'Look over there and you'll see Dumbarton Rock'. I've been looking all day and it's not moved once.

That's where I live.smiley - bigeyes William Wallace was imprisoned there before being sent to be killed in England. And Mary Queen of Scots sailed to France from there too.

Now it's a shithole, but there ya go.smiley - winkeye

Br Robyn Hoode - Navo - complete with theme tune

The Gower (and other parts of Wales) are gorgeous and, on paper, very similar but scotlands got a real ancient feel to it that's different and I just adore it...
