...is going to be made into a film, with Christopher Ecclestone as Silas the albino killer monk.

Ron Howard is going to be directing.
Tom Hanks is already lined up to play Robert Langdon and I think Sir Leigh Teabing should be played by John Rhys-Davies.
Any other thoughts as to the other characters?
Christopher Lee as Jacques Sauniere?
What do you think?

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Apr 20, 2005
I can't imagine it will be very interesting if you've already read the book. The only things of interest in the book were the amusing conspiracy theory and the cliff-hanger endings, both of which will be spoiled if you've read the book.

I wonder if Papa Benedictine is a member of Opus Dei. We should be told

If he is, I'm sure we'll be told. Opus Dei is not a secret society.

Secretive does not mean the same as secret.

Yes, the same as Freemasonry is not a secret society but a society with secrets.

You're right of course, Gnomon.
I have read the book, so I do know all the plot.
I'd still enjoy the film though.
I now hear the Sir Ian McKlellan (sp?) has joined the cast...

Ok cast time
Langdon - Tom Hanks
Sophie - Audrey 'Amalie' Tautau(sp)
Sir Leigh Teabing - Sir Ian MacKellen
Aringarosa - Alfred Molina
Bezu Fache - Jean Reno
Silas - Christopher Ecclestone (unconfermed)
I think I'd like to see Gerard Depadeau (sp) as Jaques Sauniere

I don't know I haven't seen anything he's done since Green Card
IMHO Jacques Sauniere should be played by a French Actor

Extremely mediocre massively-over-hyped book. Won't be surprised if the film turns out even worse - if that's possible.
(well, you *did* ask )
