Kaptin Kipper- Kannot say the letter B U mean C Karky, Kettle, Kippling, King's Bollage Bainbridge

I never met him and I am glad of that, I understand he was admired by many but he did nothing for women, I am not a woman myself but even I can see contraception and abortion are something that religion should play no part in, he will be missed by many but not by me. As far as I can tell god is what you make of it (dog)and I can only see whats on and around this planet and it doesn't include some saviour of the human race, only we the human race can do that.

I understand people need something to belive in...how about the human race.

Apollyon - Grammar Fascist

Actually, JPII frequently spoke out against the objectification of women. His world tours also managed to somewhat lessen a lot of people's tendencies to kill each other.

And why shouldn't religeon play any part in abortion?

This isn't the place for such a discussion. This thread is for those who wish to register their condolences on the death of Pope JP II. There are several other threads where these discussions have been going on for some time. smiley - smiley

Alfster

There is an wide ranging debate (i.e. not getting into real specifics of abortion etc) about the influences of RC church and the 'other side' of what the Pope stood for on the following thread. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/F135418?thread=620269&latest=1 It is important to discuss these things but as Blues Shark said this is not the place for it and we are not intending to de-rail such a sensitive thread with this sort of debate.

nicki

I am CofE but I would still like to offer my condolences.

This death happened whilst I was on tour with my rugby team and I did spend a good hour trying to tell them why people want to go and see him in the chapel of rest or whatever it was he was in. They couldnt understand why people who had never met him would want to go.

Sorry if everybody had abanded this thread but ive only just found it!
