Sex and drugs and rock and roll

Somebody, somewhere told me that Ian Dury coined the phrase "sex and drugs and rock and roll" when he wrote his song of that title. Is this true? Given that the phrase is now in such common usage (even by people who have most likely never heard of Ian Dury), I find it hard to believe that it wasn't used before 1977... any thoughts?

I have a feeling that this is one of those that may never be able to be tracked down specifically. There is one quotation site that gives the following credit:
"All I ever need to get through life is sex, drugs and rock & roll."
- Hippie Saying (Circa 1960)
