Does anyone know when the new series is due to start?
The BBC news article says it's three weeks away, which probably means around Easter weekend. I hope it's Good Friday and not Easter Monday. Mainly because I'm getting married on the Saturday, and so will be rather occupied after that.

Sorry to disappoint you Geggs but the planned transmission date is the Saturday, at least according to Doctor Who Magazine.

Absolutely. It's a day you'll remember all of your life ... as the day on which you missed Dr Who
I'm sure *somebody* you know must have a video and a blank tape, and it's not like you'll have much else planned for your honeymoon.

Well, I'm sure my Dad will be recording it. After all, he won't be able to watch it at the time either.
It's just a question of whether I can persuade him to keep hold of it for a few weeks.

Well errr it has been linked to the internet.
If you go on a P2P site or a torrent site you will probably find it.
Not that I would ever advocate such scurrilous practices

Geggs, if it's your wedding day nobody should be refusing you anything. Get your best man to arrange it - it's part of his job description.
Or have a tv at the bash and make it the second big event of the day

Tempting, but I think I have to maintain some kind or moral probity.
I still wake up in cold sweats worrying about the copy of 'Dock of the Bay' that I once downloaded from Napster. I've convinced the authorities will find my one day - I don't want to give them any more cause.

Don't think a TV at the reception will be possible either. The reception is at the Avoncroft Museum in Bromsgrove (google for it if you don't know about it already), and electricity may be in short supply.

Well, wonder how many guests will be showing up then Maybe you can get the priest to dress up like the Doctor.

Sorry Gegg. Don't let your too be know what a dilema it is for you.
But think of me! I'm in America and it may be years before I get to see it!

Most of the guest wouldn't be interested in Dr Who, I reckon. There are a few that would be a bit miffed though.
The fellow marrying us is getting the same kind of suit as me, the best man, the dads, the ushers and the organist. The image of him dressed up as Dr Who is quite mirthsome, though.

Sorry to hear the Miriavas. I'll sure it will find it's way over to you sooner or later.
By the way, don't you like the way I've been able to drift this thread so that it's all about me?

Very skilfully done, indeed.
Most of the guests won't be interested in Dr Who Oh, come on. *Everybody* over a certain age is interested in Dr Who - aren't they?
People sloped off down the pub at my wedding, just cos there was some important footie match on and they had a TV there. You wouldn't want that to happen to you. I'm sure there's a way of overcoming the technical difficulties. Go on, you know you want to

Ah, if only it were so. Amongst the religious-type circles in which I move, I'm considered a bit strange for also liking SF. And as most of the people at the wedding are going to be precisely those sort of people, having a telly there, and watching Dr Who on it, would not be looked on kindly.
And it would probably convince the in-laws that it was a mistake to letter their daughter marry me.
I think some solution involving a video recorder will have to be made. Dad just grinned at me when I told him. "Well, I'll be recording it", he said, "but I don't know how you're going to watch it". Thanks Dad.

Well, well, well, it takes all sorts, I suppose.
I'll be videoing the series for my brother in South Africa, so let me know if you get really stuck.
There's a teaser in the new Radio Times (liddle picky of Mr Ecclestone and Ms Piper, bigger picky of grotesque monster, a few words) *but no info about transmission*

This article also says 26th March, I think we have confirmation folks.

Deb Posted Mar 9, 2005
The new series starts in 16 days, 20 hours and 45 minutes according to the screensaver my (extremely sad IMHO) fiance has downloaded. That would make it Sat 26th March at around 7pm.
