One thing I've wondered is; are those 'air plants' that they sell in B&Q and Homebase (plants that need not soil) just immature tumbleweeds?

I don't know about 'air plants' but tumbleweed is a stinking nasty invader around here (North America), just like almost everything else.

So, the appearence of tumbleweeds in most westerns is an anachronism then, interesting
To answer my own question, no they're not.
I looked it up myself, just hadn't had the inclination to do it before I posted the question here.
