I am currently using Windows Vista and I use Googlemail for my emails.

This has been working fine for months. Now, all of a sudden my Googlemail isn't working properly. I'm getting a message saying that 'To use Googlemail in the Standard View I need to install or enable Javascript. Click on your Internet browser to enable Javascript.
My browser is Internet Explorer but I can't see anywhere in this which tells me how to enable Javascript. Help!

(Also, why did my Javascript disappear to anyway smiley - erm)

A couple of months ago I had the same problem. I think what I did was I went on tools and click on internet options then click on advanced. Scroll down to find java and make sure the box is clicked to enable it. You find tools at the top of your screen. If it isn't there then I think you might have to download it again but I don't know why it would go.

Hmm. Couldn't find Java under the Advanced section of Tools. As you say, I may have to download it again.

Be careful, common mistake: Java and JavaScript are completely different languages. It could also be referred to as JScript (this is quite likely in a Microsoft product) or EcmaScript.

The GoogleMail message definitely says Javascript

Well yes, it would: JavaScript is the standard client-side language of the web. Support for it is build into every modern web browser.

JavaScript is what it's called, but Microsoft sometimes calls it something different, just to confuse you.

In the meantime, can you see it with another browser (Firefox, for preference: Opera can be a bit funny with Gmail).

I've never had a problem with Opera and gmail, but Opera can be a bit funny about installing Javascript and Flash in the first place smiley - winkeye
