Tinnitus Sound Torture

STRANGELYSTRANGE

I can not describe how bad my Tinnitus is tonight, I have been wandering around my flat it is so bad...but you can't get away from a noise created by your own ears. The noise is extremly sharp and very high volume...with a really annoying pulse. Got it after a bad sore throat 2 months ago, on medication, Serc-8, and waiting E.N.T appointment. I have heard it ruins marriages, loses jobs, etc when really bad...I just can't explain how it feels...you can't read or wach T.V as can't concentrate!

I have an update, had to go back to doctors as started to shake, eyes kept flickering and closing due to light sensitivey, room starting to roll...and feeling sick....and just about having enough of it....sat in waiting room looking like I was half blind with half closed ,flickering eves. Given new tablets,Stemetil instead of Serc-8. I have to be honest, I was getting really worried...but doctors still say inner ear problem....causing light sensitivity, but I do have it severely.

I'm sorry, hope you'll be better soon smiley - cheerup
A friend of mine got Tinnitus after having had a very bad cold, she got infusions and I don't know what but nothing worked. Now she has to do a class where she should learn how to live with it, trying to focus on other zthings and not on the noise in her ear, it seems to be the only way smiley - sadface

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

ENT? Are you sure going to see Extreme Noise Terror is a good idea? (sorry couldn't resist... smiley - biggrin)

Mrs. Dreadful has Tinnitus, although not as bad as you seem to... it's livable but annoying in her case.

....many thanks for your help, classes may be only option in end. But I need to get rid of other symptoms first as even emptying dishwasher and plates clattering makes a noise that cuts through ears....at the moment noise is loud as loud T.V so some suggestions, like quite music to distract won't work at present. I have avoided doctors surgeries in past as full of people with coughs and colds, but just don't care at moment....
if I come up with anything to help problem, I will post on here to help others.

It's a long shot but apparently sticking your fingers in your ears and having a good waggle can alleviate the symptoms a little bit (I think it's something to do with changing the pressure).

actually, some of these inner ear problems are related to a build up of pressure so it could make sense to do that.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

After my experiance over Christas I have the depeest sympathy for anytone who has this; I can of course only guess that what I experiancesd was simular* to tinatus, I'd been out all day drinking, and smoking, adn in the evening was at a rahter loud gig, rock/metal type things.... my ears were fine.... that night got into bed, and had a kind of continueal high pitched 'ringing' in one ear, that woulnd't go away, and i couldn't sleep for ages, when I woke it was still there, but am glad to say it gradually diminished to zero during that day smiley - zen

....although I have Labyrinthitis which is causing the symptoms, loud music does cause permanant Tinnitus...as seen by rock band members suffering it.

I understand you can buy special earplugs at around £20 which reduce music by 20 decibels but still allow you to hear it....I used to listen to a lot of rock bands and loud music which doesn't exactly help my situation now!!

Labyrinthitis has to be the best name for a medical condition ever...

I used to be in a band and while my ears don't ring that much I have noticed that my hearing isn't as good as it used to be.

I have a friend with bad tinnitus and he swears by white noise CD's. I do not know how effective it would be for you but he reckoned it worked pretty well. Until later....

I've no hearing left in the very* lower ranges, which I found out one day when my lodger came into the front room and said something along the lines 'I'd wish they'd shut that b****y racket up outside' smiley - huh what racket? I can't hear anything? Apparently t'was very low bass from a in car c**p hi fi system designed for playing rediculusly loud bass smiley - huhsmiley - sadface I keep meaning to get my ears checked up, I can't hear walls as easy as I used to, which is a useful thing to be able to do for someone like me smiley - bigeyessmiley - doh
