Blackberry Cat , if one wishes to remain an individual in the midst of the teeming multitudes, one must make oneself grotesque

she was resident at the school, the council were in loco parentis and if they were negligent they're liable IMO

Curious phrase, "fall pregnant" how does that happen?

What caught my eye, was an article in the Mirror, claiming a mother of a young girl was being sued for a goodly sum as a result of her daughter downloading music on the internet, I think that Kazaa was mentioned. Now I have been known to download the occasional music file and I'd like to find some guide-lines on what is acceptable and at what point do the music police come to batter down your door?

NHS trust sees biggest MRSA rise

The trust is one of Bradford's biggest employers
Bradford Teaching Hospitals Trust has seen the biggest rise in the number of MRSA superbug cases among England's general hospitals, new figures show.

The trust, which runs Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Luke's, saw 31 more cases of MRSA last year, said the Health Protection Agency.

The research showed that 68 of the country's 173 trusts - almost 40% - saw MRSA rates rise in 2004/5 from 2003/4.

Overall national rates dropped 6.1% - down 472 to a total of 7,212 cases.

Chairman removed

The MRSA figures come as a fresh blow to managers at the Bradford Teaching Hospitals, which last year became the first NHS foundation trust to have its chairman removed by the independent regulator Monitor.

In December 2004, Monitor removed John Ryan after the trust ran up millions of pounds of debt.

The Department of Health said strategic health authorities would be taking a close look at the performance of trusts which had seen increases in MRSA cases.

Health Minister Jane Kennedy said the government would soon start consultation on a hygiene code, with sanctions for trusts which continue to fail to come up to scratch.

I came here to post that link GRJ!

Amazing that she managed to climb a 130ft crane, walk along to the couterweight and settle down. I imagine that the fire brigade must have been terrified about doing the wrong thing in waking her up!

I wonder if there's more to it than meets the eyes. It sounds too unbelievable to be true. It occured on 25th June and has only just been publicised so maybe the police thought the same.

Aye, I do like putting my head on the block sometimes. I'm forever telling my mrs "If such and such happens I'll run naked round the park". So far I've been lucky but when it happens she'll hold me to it. (I never said anything about not doing it at 2am though smiley - winkeyesmiley - ok )

2012 is a long time away to be getting excited about overtime...

The story that really caught my eye was the Police banning the G8 protest today, just as I said they would, and taking measures to block major roads into Scotlansd, just as I said they would.

Hotels 'cash in' on terror attack

Thousands of commuters chose to walk for hours to reach home
Hundreds of commuters spent Thursday night stranded in London and some have accused hoteliers of cashing in on the crisis in the capital.
Prices at a number of London's hotels increased by more than double on Thursday night, the BBC has learned.

It is called supply and demand, and market forces. This is what democracy, freedom and free trade brings us all if you disagree with it lets all become communists. It may well be cynical but I am sure a lot of those people who were stuck in London make money by making money on the stock exchange, in insurance and banking all of which rely on other peoples misfortunes to make their cash. This is no different.

Hey, you know what's funny? I had a feeling someone would say that too! This happening was a fairly safe bet: the same thing happened after 9/11 when the price of hotels went up around Heathrow when Amercian tourists were stranded.

What would I have done? If I were a hotel owner I would offer as many people as possible a roof over their heads. As I need to eat and make a living I would make sure I earn the same amount of money as I would lending the room to one person. But I care about people and their welfare than being a miserable money hoarding scumbag. Hey, maybe that's perceived as a weakness in the lovely world we now live in?
