Imperial measurments question....

Being a pretty young chap one or two imperial measurement things rather confuse me. I am thinking about bidding on a poster on ebay but I need to know does @ refer to feet or inches?

Neither, as far as I know, my young Ferretbadger.

Usually inches are represented by the symbol (") and feet by the symbol ('), as in 6'2" (6 feet, 2 inches)

I'm guessing this is merely a typo, given that @ is found on the same key as ' on the keyboard!! So in your case it would probably be feet

Cheers, it was supposed to be ", but the keyboard was set to US layout. Fixed now. Thanks for your help.

Dammit that is not really a big enough poster.

Further, and merely to confuse the matter, (') can mean minutes while (") means seconds. Generally only used with reference to angular measure as in 'degrees, minutes and seconds of arc' but sometimes also with time.
