Witty or not? Birthday Card Dilema
Genie Started conversation Jun 30, 2004
I'm having a little problem, normally I can usually come up with something witty or slightly philosophical to write into birthday cards etc, but today I'm having a bit of a brain block!
Its my sister-in-laws 30th Birthday and I would like to write something a little bit witty with regards to her getting older... A suitable quotation perhaps? or a rhyming verse?
The blokes in my office have been no help at all, please find below my Boss' contribution..
'Roses are red
violets are blue,
being thirty stinks
and so do you'....
So any ideas would be much appreciated

How do you think she feels about being 30? She might not appreciate a comment on her age - or do you not get on well?!

We get on very well
I think she's expecting a slightly cheeky comment!
I wouldn't want to dissapoint her!

Can you give us a few pointers?
Does she have any special interests like gardening or clubbing or cooking or wearing hats, or something else special about her that we could hang something on? What does she like doing?

She loves shopping, especially shoes!
She spent £200 on a bikini for her honeymoon (they went to the maldives) and showed my brother how good it looked on her before she told him how much it cost! Knowing he would of course be too to argue with her!
She loves clubbing too
But shopping is definately her main passion..

30th birthday? then the only thing that can be written is -
'Last day... Capricorn 15's... Year of the city... 2274... Carousel begins.'
Until later....

hmmmm, I mentioned this to a co-worker and they just looked at me like 'eh?' - The quote is from the film Logans Run where at the age of 30 people were killed. Of course if you have to explain it, it isnae worth putting in a card Until later....

yes I could see me getting into quite a pickle with that!
Especially as I haven't seen the film! A sterling effort no less!
Its an awful lot better than the contribution from the office!

Since 30's a wake-up call, but definitely not anywhere near over the hill, I'd go for these little words of wisdom: "Always moisturize your neck. One day it could be your face."

Age is important only if you are cheese or wine.
