There was quite a big response to somebody else suffering from depression on h2g2 at F55607?thread=377167. The advice that is given in that conversation could help.

I presume you are referring to anxiety - i.e. the state of being anxious. Do you feel like this only in certain situations or at any time? You counsellor would be the best person for advice of course, but I am happy to help if I can.

You can call me TC

How seriously does it affect your every day life?

If you've found your way here, you're probably capable of looking at your problem critically and analysing it to some extent yourself.

Finding out what causes it and what forms it takes will help you to be ready for it and to work against it, but I realise that in the end, it's an inexplicable gut feeling that you are facing.

Some people may recommend breathing exercises or yoga, autogenic training or meditation. You may find something of this kind that suits you and relaxes you when you feel an attack coming on.

It may be lack of sleep or something you're eating. It may be something that's bothering you deep deep down (problems in a relationship with parents or partner, exams looming up, some traumatic event in your past). Do you know what is causing it?

Like people are trained to do who have nightmare, (I know this sounds silly), try turning round and saying "boo" to it.

Until you give us more information, we can't help you very much. Go ahead - talking about it can only help. You'll find listeners here.

yep! as someone who has suffered from panic attick and the related paranora, and stuff like that! all you need are a few stratiges to help you out when it gets a bit on top of you, but you need to get on top of what triggers off the atticks!

just have a chat with us here on h2! if you fancy to of course!

i am thinking about suicide since about 6 years, i got depressions since 4 years. moreover i am suffering from panic attacks and i hurt myself with knives, nails etc. so you see there ppl that are going through almost the same stuff as you do.

a lot of people told me to talk with therapists, but i already know that they aren´t able to help me. the people in my enviroment don´t know that i got depressions, they don´t care so i don´t want to talk.

to write, or listen to music is sometimes the only way to forget everything for a couple of seconds, you should try that !
