The thread that everyone's talking about
badger party tony party green party Posted Jun 1, 2004
I have managed to become and have a jolly sore throat. I have a note from my mum so can I be excused talking about this thread today?
I will continue to read this thread and try to catch up with my talking about this thread when Im better.

A *jolly sore throat*, now you see that's just why the English Language is more complex than 14th century Mandarin. It's not happy, it's not laughing, it's not even content with it's current condition but it is in fact *jolly*. Probably the single reason why the USAians revolted (not that they're revolting) and Canada brought home it's own constitution (not that it was brought to my home, as a matter of fact I don't think anyone lives where it is). But again, still another reason why everyone is talking about this thread, even if at times it's incomprehensible to people (especially those people who might not understand a word like that with six syllables). Even Mandarins, I imagine (although generally those are Asian oranges available at Christmas here).

CL you might want to talk about me developing a "stinking" cold which has taken away my sense of smell when you've done with that subject you could mention that my *stinking cold* is making my nose
.

Exactly, Blicky!
Is the nose running from the cold because it stinks? No, because as you say the nose has no sense of smell right now. How can we know if the cold is stinking without being able to smell it? All these things are what we should be talking about (when we briefly pause talking about this thread, of course).
Good luck with the cold. Boil and orange whole, drink the water and eat the orange hot, peel and all. It works, honest. If you don't believe me, we can talk about it.

I much prefer hot toddies made with dark rum, honey and lemon. These also work and sound like more fun than a boiled orange.
When talking about this thread how does one know what to talk about? Or is it enough to go - 'oh you know, *THE* thread'?

Your drink makes you feel better, mine make you get better.
But then, why not get better and then feel better?
I think we have two roles here. One to put things in this thread that keep people talking about it and the other talking about it. Shall we talk about it? Or just do something that people will talk about?

I just watched 2001 again, well the first time actually all the way through as Id always managed to fall asleep before.
The final sequence where he travels into the monolith was absolutely breath taking. Well it was in reality this cold had stopped me breathing properley, but it was anyway.
I tried the curry cure to scare the germs out, in the end, plus
.
We'll see if that has worked tomorrow morning.
of to dream about this thread

Clearly none of you have been even thinking about the well-being of this thread
I'd like to bring it back to our centre of attention.

I have a Jolly Sore Throat because I've been talking about this thread for almost a year! (Just not here).
I have fed this thread hot toddies, halt toadies and boiled oranges so don't be telling me I haven't been thinking about it's well being (well, except for the toadies). I feel that with enought tender loving care and a veneered Dutch stone tiger this thread could live a fine, long, lasting career as a fibre, fibril, filament, skein or strand.

That's all very well, but have you fed it any deloused baby swans?
