Pink Paisley

The scene:

A Scottish loch, the mist rolling off the heather clad mountains. A man in "country uniform", fly fishing (from a rowing boat I think).

Voicover:

Sainsbury's / Waitrose' / Tesco's scottish smoked salmon blah blah blah.

Background music:

Thin Lizzy, Whiskey in the Jar - whoops an Irish Band / song.

The music to adverts is often inappropriate - either the wrong nationality or the title or lyrics are not in accord with the product.

Just to expand the thread a bit, my favorite was when the US automobile company, General Motors, introduced their new model, the Nova, to Latin America. No one had bothered to find out that the Spanish word for 'No' was the same as English, however the Spanish word 'Va' is the second person verb for 'Go'

Nova = Doesn't go!

The wondered why they did not sell very well.

Like a Japanese soft drinks manufacturer in the early eighties. Decided to market their product to the European community in the Far East. Translated the Japanese name into English and came out as piss. Tasted like it as well.

Or my all time favourite, which is the mobile phone company Orange realising its tag line of "the future's bright, the future's orange" might not go down too well in Ireland.
