NO! I hate the games threads.
No I was just astounded at the sheer number of NEW threads.This place has been as dead as a dodo for weeks, well more like months with only the incessant long running in yer navel puzzle and games threads.Like we need another one of those.
Now I'm having a hard time deciding where to post for a change instead what threads do I WANT to post in.

I have to say, I agree. Just when I had been giving up on Ask as frivolous and irritating and not at all as it should be (what is MiscChat for, after all?) when some actual questions are popping up. Hurrah!
Mind you, some could argue that this thread itself is irritation, unneccesary and frivolous. Probably right, too.

I think it's just a case of these things run in cycles. The Bush/Iraq threads have gone quiet because there isn't much new happening, but there have been a couple or three threads sparked by the Madrid bombings.
Ask is always going to be a bit of a mix, and a good thing too, because you don't want all your conversations to be about the same things.

In answer to the original question, I think the rise in intelligent thread is a bold and daring bid to entice Gnomon to come down off the pole and subscribe to Ask again.
But he is a man of his convictions, so I doubt it will work.
