Waking up at 4 am and realising you don't have to get up for hours yet and you can go back to sleep.
Hearing a great old record on the radio for the first time in years (BBC 6 Music seems to keep doing this to me at the moment...)
Suddenly remembering that there's beer in the fridge.

Really thick white fog in the morning--it masks all the signs of the world beyond my house and makes everything silent and heavy.

Sucking too hard through a straw on a McDonald's milkshake gives you an awful headache right at the front of your head. The best feeling in the world is when that headache starts to go...

"That 'phurrrrrrr' sound"--I agree.
Same with the horses. I also love the times when you accomplish a little bit more bonding with a horse by teaching him something. There was a horse I used to ride at the stable where I was taking lessons, and he was sweet but very head-shy. He didn't like anyone touching his head, and he especially didn't like anything strange going on in front of him. So when I decided to teach him to take a piece of carrot straight from my mouth, it took a long time. I would stand a little ways in front of him, within his reach but not too close, put the carrot in my lips, and wait. At first, he smelled the carrot and wanted it, but he wouldn't come any closer to me. After a few days, he finally got up enough courage to stretch his head closer and then pull back, to see if I would do anything. Finally, one day, he stretched out, grabbed the carrot, and pulled back. I praised him and gave him more, and then he was willing to do it again. Soon he learned to take the carrot immediately, and he would even kiss me if I crouched in front of him, even if there wasn't a carrot. It gave me a deeper bond with this horse and I felt honored that he trusted me enough to willingly put his head near me.

Getting up on a Sunday morning, putting on your dressing gown, making tea, then going back to bed STILL WEARING your dressing gown.
Calling your Gran up on her birthday and hearing how pleased she is to hear your voice.
'Yikes'ing some idiot's posts cos they pedal provocative tosh on an otherwise friendly MB, and having them pre-modded!! (I know this sounds harsh but it wasn't on this MB - although it WAS a BBC one)

Getting out into the garden for the first time in ages.........
Watching the twig in my garden that I planted last year turn into a miniature apple tree covered in buds.
Getting compost rather than slime from my compost bin for the first time ever.
The anticipation of picking the boyfriend up at the airport on Friday after his week away at work.

Today I smelt that 'Spring' smell in the air for the first time this year. That makes me very happy.

I have only just started reading this thread, so excuse me if someone has said it in the meantime, but on a thread with a similar subject way way back in time, someone once went into raptures about the wonderful feeling of pleasure when water which has been in your ear since you last went swimming finally finds its way out again.
I'd look for it, but I don't think that "searching conversations" for "ear", "water" or "pleasure" would be a very good idea.

Right, off to read everyone else's contributions now.

Waking up every morning to find my cat Lua purring next to my head - and even playing with my hair. She has just been diagnosed as having cancer so every day with her is much more than a little pleasure.

How about naming the thread "petits plaisirs"? (Oh- I see someone nearly did)
- September
- fresh snow with sun on it
- cuddling a kitten
- lots of kids all climbing the tree in the garden
- my three kids doing things together, the greatest of friends
- a really good Sunday lunch of roast beef, followed by apple pie and custard, cooked myself. Washed up by others.
-
- runny camembert
- leaving work when it's still daylight outside
- a chamber music concert where NOBODY COUGHS (I have yet to experience that one)
- a mighty sneeze
- laughing

I heartily agree with the one about getting water out of your ear.
Bubble wrap. It's all about the bubble wrap. Not those wimpy ones with the quarter- or half-inch diameter bubbles--we're talking the real big, one-inch diameter ones that really POP when you pop them.
A moment of total silence at the end of a song/scene/play when the audience is too stunned to even applaud. It's even better when you're onstage during that.
