Why is this an ungodly hour?

It's 4.58am and I'm wondering why its considered ungodly. It's actually peaceful and quiet and very still (except for the rats having their Chr*stm*s bash in the ceiling which is why I'm up at such an ungodly hour in the first place). But outside it has the quality of something holy.
Is it called ungodly because people up at this time are meant to be doing something wicked?

Hmm... My guess is that people view it as an hour in which 'God didn't mean us to be concious'. Or maybe just that people, woken up at such a time, feel a deep and profound urge to swear, and since they've just woken up, their thoughts aren't particularly coherent. *grins*
