Excellent news. One thing I do recall about them was people used to get upset about their suspicious fish smell
Can someone remind me what spangles were? I remember the name but the fact I've never even tried one (apparently) seems testament (at least to me) as to why they are no longer around.

Spangles were little square boiled sweets in strong fruit flavours. They came in a roll - like, say, Polos - not in a bag.

Fair enough, still don't remember them.

I still yearn for Ice Magic - it was syrup you poured on your ice-cream which solidified (or froze, now I think about it.) You were then left with a lovely crunchy chocolate topping on your pudding!

Chips & Gravy (well, you can't get it in London!!)

Rowntrees fruit gums are still available but they're softer these days, don't glue your teeth together like they used to.
My local pub sells chicken & chips (eat in or takeaway)
They also do lasagne and chilli.

I forgot to mention my local pub sells star bars just because no-one else does.

Spangles were square but had a round indentation in them just the right size for you to hold them inbetween your finger and thumb.

I bought a 'star bar' today from spar, very nice it was too. What were those log shaped fudgie toffee things with peanuts stuck round them called? Can't remember if there was anything inside the fudgie toffee stuff or not.

Fathom, Sainsbury's do plain scones, I saw them yesterday (when I bought cherry and sultana ones). Or did you mean in teashops and the like?
Quattro - yeah I remember that. Fizzy fruit drink, perfect for rotting kids teeth.
Spangles - I remember them too. Loved them, especially the shape. Perfect for sticking your tongue in.
Fruit salads - you can still get, as with Black Jacks. But they're a penny EACH these days!
Coffee walnut whips - Now those really were delicious.
Fish and chips - little bags with 'newspaper print' design, and crispy fish and chip shaped biscuits inside. Are these still available anywhere?
And does anyone else remember Cabana bars? They were a bit like Bounty with bits of cherry in, and a caramel layer on top. Wonder who made them and why they don't now? They were definitely delicious.

Sally,
Our nearest Sainsbury's is twenty-five miles away. I did mean in tea shops though - we asked for plain scones last week and were presented with fruit scones without jam. I mean, do these people not know what a plain scone is anymore?

Oh dear. What kind of scone doesn't have lashings of jam and cream!? Except perhaps for cheese scones.
I remember a very nice teashop on the edge of the New Forest which brought us a selection of home-made scones (plain, sultana, cherry and cheese) with a choice of jams and lots of clotted cream. Now that's my idea of a cream tea.

Delenn - yes, Ice Magic rocked!
I never realised it was the cold that did it, so one time I poured some into a little pot and waited for it to turn into a solid lump of chocolate!
They still make 'Cheese Moments' (from the makers of 'Scampi Fries' and 'Bacon Fries') but they're darn hard to get hold of nonetheless. Fortunately I've found a shop near my work that stocks them!

I think I might have been to the Tea Place at the New Forest.
If you want cream teas you have to come to Devon - the home of the cream tea. We know how to serve them. (I once worked as an afternoon tea -lady, it was great)
Fish 'n' chips in crisp packets, yes very tasty a bit like small dog biscuits, not at all fishy flavoured. Bring um back.
