I would go a long way to avoid Avid Merrion.
By definition nearly all Christmas songs are crap, although I have soft spots for Elton's 'Step Into Christmas', Jonah Lewie's 'Stop The Cavalry' and the Beach Boys' 'Little Saint Nick'.
I will shoot the first person who mentions Mike Oldfield in this thread.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Nov 24, 2003
I like scilent night, or the red nosed raindeer, or hark the herrald angle sings, or whilst sheppards washed their flocks by night, Most 'pop' Christmas songs just getting hugely annoying after a very short time due to their constant playing in every shop, and shopping centre/mall from about mid October onwards Cliff is always a pleasure at Christmas though... However, a pleasure that I've been denied since the police injunction

"I hear there is no Christmas in the silly Middle East." My vote goes for Mr Hankey.
But I love Avid, he makes me do a sex wee.

Prideth - Queen dragon - protector of otters, and otternuts alike Posted Dec 1, 2003
...I've not got a single favourite, but I do like these ones:
Santa Baby - Ertha Kit, *not* Kylie's version
White Christmas - Bing Crosbie & David Bowie
I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day - Wizard
Merry Christmas - Slade
I also like the ones by the Pogues & Kirsty McCall, and Jonah Lewie.
Favourite carols are:
We Three Kings
Once in Royal David's City
Prideth
P.S. Can anyone remember the name of Mud's big Xmas hit? I like that one too, but can't remember the title.

At the risk of coming across as meaner than Scrooge, and inciting several readers to reach for their Yikes buttons.....
Barry Mannilow "I guess there aint no Santa Claus"
I got wine, I got cheer, I got nobody here...
Sugar plums in my head, only me in my bed....
Well they sure got it right when they said Silent Night...
Oh, and my favourite traditional one is the Carol of the Bells.
