i am still trying to find out what i photogra.phed in india, on the beach at goa last year during a thunderstorm. i tried to take a picture as lightning flashed to show back home,to prove the unseasonable weather to my pals, on the picture there was a "planet" in the sky, not visible to the naked eye, nor a few seconds later qwhen i tried to get the same effect, because i didnt believe what i was seeing on the screen of the camera. can anyone help. i dont know how to attach the picture though, so simple instructions please and ill have a try.

Maybe it was a Fata Morgana A13900178 ? Don't laugh, read the article and decide then.

You can't publish it here, you'll have to publish it on photobucket or any other site that allows to publish photos, then you can post the link

The first of your links works fine. And I have to say, that's exactly how I imagine a fata morgana capturing the planet Venus, as described in the entry.

Well, there is something called orbs which show up on many photographs. Some people believe they are fairies or orgone energy, but qite likely they are just caused by light reflecting off dust particles in the air. I think your´s could be something similar. Although it seems weird it shows a form of structure, it looks like it has concentric circles in it. A flying hubcap perhaps?

dunno about the hubcap, i think that would have been visible to the naked eye , which it wasnt, and you dont get many hubcaps on the beach at goa. it was very windy though and a few rooves were destroyed,

>>. . . during a thunderstorm. i tried to take a picture as lightning flashed . . .
And then we get a picture of a terras with a primitive roof. Imagining the thunderstorm roaring and the atmosphere damp.
First picture of 'storm' is taken low over the chair, just right of the pole, under lightbulb and under white bar. Second is taken a little higher, some to the right and a little back.
The light can be a sphere, illuminated by the reflection of the pole. I think I know what 'dust' particle we see.
Can it be a water drop coming from the lightbulb ? Or else somewhere out of the roof ?

I notice that in the second photo, the one without the strange object, there is a lightbulb. I'd guess that what you are seeing in the first photo is a strange reflection of the lightbulb, which has bounced around inside the lens of the camera and ended up like this.
It's certainly not a fata morgana of the planet Venus or any other planet, as the concentric circles on it show.

Traveller in Time studying artefacts
"My guess is the lightbulb is not on, as well it would give partial arcs if it would reflect in the lense system. "

If you look carefully, there are smaller discs around the main disc.

Xanatic Posted Sep 4, 2006
Well a fata morgana is just a image of something that is located elsewhere. It won't have a specific way of looking, except perhaps being a bit blurry and distorted.

Traveller in Time on his head
"And if you look at the intensity you notice it is a little more bright on the left side.
Actually I have _no_ explanation for the rings , can be part of the object, can be generated by the lenses, can be generated by the CCD.
We definitely have an unidentified object in the picture, anything else is speculation.
We see a UPO "
