h2g2 (or at least BBCi) hasn't been letting me in! I tried following all the instructions, but it keeps saying it's busy, or currently malfunctioning or something. I had to start up this as a new user, just to post that things are wrong...

Hmm, the new system was a bit buggy to start with... seems to have settled down now though...

Are you sure you're typing in your original login name and not your screen nickname when trying to get back into the system?

Oh, nearly forgot... A good place to start looking for answers might be here...

Well, earlier today I thought I'd chase up the validation email, seeing as I hadn't recieved one.

BIG MISTAKE!!!!

The system wouldn't let my login to hootoo again until I replied to the email I requested. But it didn't arrive. So I asked for another one. Which also has not appeared.

So I opened this account, using one of my junk email addresses. The email arrived there. So it must be that the server at work just won't let the validation email in. Lovely.

So I'll go back to my home email address. But as I'm not home yet, I'll use this account til then.

I couldn't get in until I received the e-mail and my ISP has had problems with e-mails so I haven't had any for days.

Now I can't log in at w*rk

I don't have full internet access - just a few trusted sites - and the company firewall thinks the login page is outside BBCi. Aaargh. I guess I'll be posting a lot less from now on.

Also the 'remember me on this computer' doesn't and I couldn't get back in through the login button. I had to use the link given in the e-mail. Perhaps that will work from w*rk too? Hmmm...

Although it's probably a bit of a cheat to log in this way but at least for the time being I can post from w*ork again.

Fathom, you could log in to the site at home, then click the remember me at all times button, then get onto the conversations page and send that link to your work puter, my work is like yours with the trusted sites so i had to do the same thing

i tried it and it worked for me, unless i did somethin i can't remember...

Tried logging on and it said it needed to update details, the told me my user name was already used by someone else. YES, ME! Ended up having to create a new login just so I could then click, "I'm not this person" and then log in normally. What a farce!

No good, I can't log in from w*rk again.

I don't want to use 'remember me on this computer' from w*rk even if I could get in to set it up. Any ideas anyone?

It's now weeks later, and every time I try logging in it recognizes me as me, then asks me to follow the procedure and give my details. Then, when I've done all that and agreed to the Terms & Conditions, it tells me that there's still a bug that needs ironing out and it can't log me in! It's getting really frustrating!

Right, having checked Whicky's link it's between Steps 2 and 3 that it ALWAYS, without fail, stops and reports an error with a very friendly message about there being a few glitches while the update/changeover process is going on.
