Alright, The Simpsons is probabily the most popular program of all time but I personally hate it. All the programs about is people making stupid mistakes and saying silly things around a supposed real life setting. I just want to know if I'm all alone in this world of Simpson fans, is there anyone out there that also hates it!!!

D'Oh! How can anyone hate the Simpsons?

Simpsons is the only thing worth living for.
(Apart from my girlfriend of course!)

If you think that's all the programme's about, then I think you're mistaken. For a start, who said it is a supposed real life setting? Secondly, what about the underlying tone of family togetherness that comes out? The almost everyman nature of Homer Simpson, a character who mirrors most good and bad qualities of the human race. What about the literary, televisual and film references? Yes, the characters do "make stupid mistakes" and "say silly things", but the characters of most comedies do, and most comedies don't have the rich tapestry of themes that the simpsons has. The programme features love, death, comment on the state of American society with it's gredy billionaires, shady lawyers and dodgy doctors.

You may not like it, but to dismiss Matt Groening's creation as "people making stupid mistakes and saying silly things around a supposed real life setting." is to greatly miss the point.

Everyone loves the Simpsons because it is brilliant. Actually I know a couple of people who don't like it, but they're odd anyway.

I've got admit to being a convert to the Simpsons for not liking it at all at the start I now think its reaaly great.

Well said, Egon! The Simpsons lampoons every stratum of our society, from "stupid people" to politicians to intellectuals. You have to know a bit about each subject to realise the jokes, of course.

I am with you Admiral !! I really loathe the Simpsons. Apart from anything else they are so ugly to look at.

This can be applied to all sitcom type shows. And lets face it, The Simpsons is easily the best of the bunch.

They're just so ugly and yellow with the most annoying voices - especially Bart and his mother. Immediate switch off I'm afraid.

They also repeat the programme billions and billions of times. Sky one is the worst offender, without the Simpsons, Sky One would have gone bust along time ago!!!

I can't believe we've got to post 18 without anyone saying that Futurama is better than the Simpsons.

Nope, I love the simpsons but here's a question for you all: the simpsons vs south park, which do you prefer?

South Park every time (although very rarely watched it) At least they're nice to look at - kind of round and solid. Good use of colours and shades too - not all those flat primary colours.
