h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I'm trying to get problems with internet access sorted out with Tiscali; I am not the world's most computer literate paerson, neither do I have fluent French. There is a distinct lack of patient, helpful knowledgeable froggies round here; please help!!!

I only know french up to A level standard and i nearly failed that but if i can help at all I will have a go

Do you know basic computer speak? For a start, where do I find "My computer" so I can change the internet connection? I used to be on dial-up modem (unlimited access), then got ADSL broadband connection but the modem they sent me doesnt work, they've now told me I can have 3 hours () free while they start (!!!) sorting it, but I can't find out how to access it; can't phone them & use computer at the same time of course!

If you are asking me to translate everything which you just said into french then i am afraid i cannot help

but 'where is my computer?' translated straight from my head is

ou est mon ordinateur?

If he's about you could try asking Whisky (U180644)

i will help as much as i can but i haven't had access to computers when i was still in france...

but i can guide with things like "My computer = Mon ordinateur?!" etc.. that _might_ get you into the right direction...
