Interesting ideas FB. What are the EGEs up to at the moment? I haven't been following the EG stuff or what the plans are for PR.

They are wrestling with tools that mean they have to rebuild the front page pixel by pixel. Seriously.
There is still a bug the size of a dinosaur that messes with how they move entries from place to place, that stops the subs from subbing, and stops them loading the hopper for the Front Page. Weeks of their prep work has gone for naught and will need doing again.
From what I understand, Briian and Pastey need something sorted by the BBC, and then they need to try out ways of fixing it.
I think the suggestion to give 'em a breather's a good one kea.

>>take the 'dullest' topics imaginable and make them fascinating
I'm sure I've mentioned this somewhere on here before, but it seems apposite at the mo. Radio 4 once serialised a book about the the origins of mauve in their 'Book of the Week' slot. And even though mauve was the world's first artificial colour, it still sound like a dull subject.
And yet the programme was completely unmissable that week, because the book was read by Tom Baker. It was as if the topic just didn't matter - it was Tom's delivery that I was listening to.
"...and so he had discovered..." (portentous pause, followed by doom-laden tones) "... mauve!"
There was another programme about the same time on the history of barbed wire. Can't remember much about that one, but surely we could do something interesting on that?

Wow, thanks, Geggs. The idea of Tom Baker saying 'mauve' in that tone of voice...yep, that's what I meant.
We can put our signature on anything. We're distinctive that way.

Personally, I found the book itself to be pretty well-written, and not in need of external dramatisation.
