I'm guessing it is as I've used it and that is how I would spell it (though I'm waiting for someone with a dictionary to prove me wrong

i'll take your word for it. It's just that I'm writing an essay,a nd "hierarchical racial thinking" sums up what I mean, and I wanted to check I wasn't making words up, which I sometimes do.

Well I've used it lots in essays and I've never had any complaints...Good luck with the essay

Well that is true...I blame my dissertation being in a state of stagnation entirely on h2g2, not my fault at all

Consider yourself bl**dy lucky! They truly are the devil's work. Am looking forward to a day without dissertation but unfortunately it does mean doing it first

Frankly anyone who finishes their essay more than an hour before it's due and isn't running from the computer room having just printed it off to the office, just isn't managing their time properly in my opinion!

The worse experience I had was getting the dates mixed up for an essay and only finding out at the seminar at 9 that the essay was actually due at 2.30 and not 2 weeks later as I thought 
I had to do all the reading and writing in 5 hours. That was not fun (but in fairness entirely my fault 
)
