Using an angle grinder in a pinch for cutting is fine, but if you want to cut material on a regular basis (without paying for a bandsaw), what you want is a slotting saw. They're specifically designed for precision cutting.

Too much cutting with an angle gringer will warp your abrasive and will lead to an uneven finish.

slotting saw?

That's a new one, something I don't have, I suspect.

I have a fretsaw, a bandsaw, several jigsaws, a Black & Decker Scorpion (my favourite), a hacksaw and another that I don't know the name of ("normal" saw).

Cutting tools aplenty smiley - biggrin

I'm just looking for something to do with my poor, neglected angle-grinder.

what you want for cutting things is a stihl saw.

Especially a diamond tipped stihl saw smiley - evilgrin

Mate of mine made a new window for his house in about 15mins using one. Mind you, he also nearly managed to cut his arm off with one smiley - erm

But they are fun !

Sho, what do you actually use a jigsaw for? I've got one and found it more or less useless - except for breaking it's own blades.
I do a lot of DIY and have never found a use for which another saw was not more appropriate.

ah, well, I don't du DIY

I make things out of wood (on my PS there is a link to some examples)

currently I'm working on a couple of wooden smiley - sheep to stand outside my front door. My favourite thing that I made is a wooden Christmas tree (about 2 feet high) with fairy lights poked through from the back. I had that outside over Christmas, and got a few orders for them.

stihl (I think it's them) have a fantastic bandsaw thing, with a very very fine ceramic blade - and I want one sooooooo badly.

I'll have to sell a few of my wooden jobbies first though, because while it is obviously nowhere near as brilliant, the one I got from Aldi 2 years ago is fantastic.
