I note that the Douglas Adams entry is currently being 'featured' on the front page of Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Adams
It seems quite thorough from what I know. h2g2 only gets a single sentence mention though.

The Wikimedia Foundation servers are currently experiencing technical difficulties.
The problem is most likely temporary and will hopefully be fixed soon. Please check back in a few minutes.

Nice to see hootoo isn't the only site to employ lazy hamsters

I got that last night with Wikipeadia, trying to play "Millionaire" online. I guessed the answer instead - it was just as good!

Has anyone written an entry on Wikipedia for h2g2? Seems the least we could do is return the compliment!
A918434 Oh yes. So they have.

I was trying to do some research into the history of some caves in the Peak District last night and I stumbled across the H2G2 website so thought I'd take a peek (unsuccessfuly unfortunately) in here. I must have accidentaly triggered the infinite improbability drive on my laptop though because the very next site I looked at, Wikipedia, had Mr Adams staring out at me.
I love a good coincidence, me.

Congratulations, Feisor!
Hope this doesn't sour you on Wikipedia, but someone's gone and changed the links back to point to the Wikipedia article on h2g2 (which is at http://en.wikipedia.org/H2G2 if anyone's interested). In general, when we want to link to a subject, it's best to use an internal link to another article in the encyclopedia instead of an external link to a website. Appropriate external links are generally okay in the "External links" section or in the form of a numbered URL (as the person who reverted your changes added).

G'day Ebarchery ...
I just tried to leave you an ACE welcome but, as you are not registered with h2g2 I can't
Welcome anyway ....
and just so you don't miss out
I have made a "Hints and Links for New Researchers" page at <./>A719840</.> - if you go there it will lead you to all sorts of places which will help find your way around and get to know this wonderful place. It should keep you busy for a while
Enjoy!!
Have fun!!!
and above all !!!

Oh
I knew someone would spoil it - thanks anyway Jeff
Well, at least there's a link to hootoo in the article somewhere.
I'll just stay here I think - I prefer hootoo anyway

The above conversation shows why I would rather drink spit than contribute to that site. You change something with the best of intentions, but there's always someone who knows better and just changes it back.
What's the point of allowing people to change things, if it's immediately changed back? At least with h2g2 there's discussion before changes are made, or things are explained properly. Otherwise it could just look like someone being petty.
And before someone says 'oh but that was explained', yeah, *on h2g2* not on wikipedia where it would have been helpful.
And the article on h2g2 is out of date. Why bother having instant updating if it's not done? Before anyone tells me I should do it, see first sentence, above.

Imagine PR if as many people had heard of (and contributed to) h2g2 as Wikipedia.
Not sure if that's a dream or a nightmare. And as for Ask. And the MoTMV.
