I'm trying to remember a song by a female Arabic/Egyptian singer. I think it was from the 80s but it could have been early 90s. Anybody got any ideas.

There are a few possibles - can you give us any idea at all what it was like? Is she singing 'traditional' or something else.

I think you're looking for Ofra Haza.
She was middle eastern and did a number of pop records with that sort of wailing sound over the top. Very good, very effective

Ofra Haza, I guess ([Broken link removed by Moderator]). She, for example, sang in The Sisters of Mercy's "Temple of Love (1992)".

She's also been sampled on a version of Paid In Full (Eric B and Rakim) and Pump Up The Volume (M/A/R/R/S)
