And thinking i'm a girl is far preferable to assuming i'm a man.

Being shaven-headed myself, any good way of shaving is of much interest. When I first did it I figured I'd only need to shave my scalp once or twice a week, but I find that if I want to look presentable I really need to do it every damn day
I use an electric razor simply for ease, but I would use a cut-throat if I could get one, and a wet shave if I had the time and a better designed bathroom.

I think fancier razors are better, but not enough to justify upgrading to the next better one that comes out.
You buy one of these new types of razor and try it our for the first time and go "Wow! this *is* better" without thinking that you would have got precisely the same effect if you just put a new blade on your old razor. I think a lot of fancier razors are sold this way.
Also, have you noticed that when they bring out a new razor the actual thing costs about 2 quid whilst the refills cost about 10. AND for every even fancier razor that comes out the refills BOTH go up in price AND go down in numbers! There used to be six with the old ones, now there are four. It's a con.
I for one am sticking with my Gilette Mach 3 . No "Mach 3 Turbo" for me.

That's two votes for shaving oil now. Perhaps I'll check it out - I hadn't even heard of it before.

Add me as a convert to shaving oil - much better than foam-in-a-can

I find that cheap soap works just as well if I massage it in a bit. And razors with more blades and springy heads do seem to make a difference. Less skin incisions and more hair removed.
Mind you, nothing beats a pair of tweezers and a *lot* of patience.

This weekend I tried a Gillete Mach 3 with the strips. It was the first time I have ever gotten razor burn. I am sticking to my Wilkinson Sword Classic and cold water from now on Until later...

I use Mach 3 at the moment. Which really is bloody expensive as each blade only seems good for two shaves.
I tried some shaving oil when I was travelling. It was this tiny little concetrated container. You only used three drops, Thinking back on it, it probably worked better than the gel I use now.

Listen in men.... how we suffer.
The 3 blade Gillette one is my current fave - and I got my mum to buy loads of blades for me for Xmas so I've got plenty spare. It seems to work ok for me, especially in the shower.
I rarely get cut by it which is an improvement over the disposable ones I used to have, which were rubbish.

Since my post up there ^ I've taken to wet shaving, and I use a Gillette Mach 3. I bought it... well over six months ago, it came with a blade fitted and a spare, and I've yet to buy a replacement blade for it. Remeber, this is shaving both face *and* head, probably three to four times a week on average. Considering how much the blades cost, I would jolly well expect them to last that long!
It doesn't seem to shave all parts as smoothly as the electric shaver, so I still tidy up with that.

Grow a beard... it saves you at least five minutes in the morning - plus all the pain when you cut yourself to pieces when attempting to shave under the influence of the worlds worst "I'm never drinking again" hangover
On a serious note - I always used to find the cheap razors always seemed to be blunt after about two days use - so they ended up being almost as expensive as a more expensive razor that I didn't have to change every other day!

Blunt razors are okay for a while, you just have to rub them over the hairy areas a bit more. If you have a decent enough skin lubricant it barely makes a difference.

The only good thing about disposable razors - they're disposable
I got that tip from Kayan (Queer Eye For The Straight Guy), but in no way shape or form am I a metrosexual. Oh no, perish the thought
