Personally, I like the way that when I have asked what appeared to be a simple question with a simple answer, I've been answered with a wealth of related information. You might not always get the answer to the question you asked, but you do quite often get the answer to a question you didn't know existed. And thereby one expands ones knowledge.

Whatever the collective noun for lots of bits of esotreric knowledge is, (preparing to learn again!), that's what we have here.

And darn good fun it is too

Just as well you are here then ... up to now, if these "already wriiten" answers can be compared to sheep, for the sake of argument say. Then I have been the intellectual equivalent of Bo Peep. Believe me this is a difficult admission for a mature adult male living in the North East of Scotland

There may be a large body of info in the Guide, but there is also a lot of work still to do. Subjects of interest to me that are missing include Peru and Eddy Merckx. Not mainstream, I admit, but significant.

Oh, and for all of you who haven't consulted the mice recently, H2G2 is merely a product of the computer matrix. The ultimate question will eventually appear on Ask H2G2 and vanish in under an hour as no-one sees a need to post any replies and it drops way down the backlog.

When someone has asked the Ultimate Question, I think it would render replies rather obsolete and futile. It would, then, be a good thing that we have a system that would bury it before it caused irreparable harm!

A Scottish meet would be a fablioos idea, count me in ! I'm not exactly local.... but a we jaunt up the m-way would be problemo no.
