Boooooooo!!!
Anyway, first single was only a few years ago - Shakermaker by the once great Oasis (open for debate in itself!)
First album was a compilation called 'Hits for Kids' which included classics such as The Birdie Song, Nellie the Elephant, and bizzarrely enough 'Brown girl in the Ring'!!

They're worryingly good choices. Surely you must have bought something poor?
I bought Bon Jovi's Crossroads on the same day as King of the Curb by Echobelly

First single? That would be Tears for Fears, can't remember... Mad World or something.
Album: Let it Be, the Beatles.
And who was talking about Puttin' on the Ritz? That was from the 80s, when there was a huge wave of German stuff that made it into the English charts (an awful translation of 99 Luftballons, there was Major Tom by Peter Schilling, something by Falco etc ect.) it wasn't by Falco, I'll check when I get home and let you all know (yep, I have it too) but the name was similar to Falco... Bodo or something?

Taco... I just remembered. Taco did Puttin' on the Ritz.
I can't believe I remember that! I'm sooooooo ashamed!
(anyone who listened to Pop Around Europe on BFBS radio in the 80s must know the song)

Okay, Kelli & Too Much
First single I ever owned was "Leader of the gang" and the first album was "Remember me this way" both by, yup, Mr Ego himself, Gary Glitter.
Please remember I was 7 and I now know better.
(Note to self: Hmm, I must try to get that picture of me in a silver lame suit off my parents!)

Hmmm, some eclectic and highly respectable choices here. Doctor Gonzo, why would you be embarrassed about REM? They're ace. But I'm still waiting for them to do a cover of the title track of...
...Album: same as W****e, Grease OST
Single: probably Coming Up by Wings

Well the first album I *owned* was Bang on A Drum - the playschool album (and I have somewhere some stuff by Shawaddywaddy) but these formative years things shouldn't count.
It's when you buy it yourself that you cannot pass the buck to you parents or your youth

I'm not embarrassed about REM, not at all. I own all of their albums, and know quite a bit of useless trivia about them (eg, they considered the odd names 'Slut Bank' and 'Cans of Piss' before settling on REM). They've remained one of my favourite bands for quite a while now.
On the other hand, Jive Bunny (and the Mastermixers, maybe?) is something to be embarrassed about. And I am.

I can't remember the first single but the first LP I bought was This Time by the England World Cup Squad of 1982.
The first CD was Led Zepplin 4 which I got with my first cd player. Both are still going strong many years later.

I'm afraid I can't remember precisely which was the first single I bought. The first album was The Stranglers - Rattus Norvegicus
