Yes I do still (occasionally) listen to CRASS. Penis Envy being my favourite LP and You're Already Dead the best of the singles.
The bit that I find most amusing now is the prices some folk are prepared to pay on eBay for their singles. I mean, they all came with "pay no more than 75p" stamped on the cover

'Big A little a
Bouncing B
System might have got you
But it won't get me'
No i don't, actually, though I do remember them with some fondness,.
I tend to agree with Captain Sensible, who commented that they had the best lyrics and the worst tunes on the planet, which is why he did the ep with them. Which I *do* still have.

Big A, little a is one of my all-time favourites still...
... And I still listen to Poison Girls, too...

How does it feel to be the mother of a thousand dead?
A very strong statement, particularly at the time, though judging from some of the comments being thrown around in the World Cup! thread, still relevant.

*blushes* I still think to be the one who gave the idea to that cover... 1st WW soldier with almost no face left...
There was a guy here in Germany who did a book just out of photographs from that war and founded an Anti-War-Museum in the 20s. The book was re-released in the late 70s, and after some really good conversation by letter with Penny Rimbaud (I think I was about 17 at that time) I just sent them this book. Don' really know, whether they knew of it before or not... should I join the "Is there somebody famous around"-Forum????

I hope you were not the one that gave them the idea for the sandpaper cover that buggered up untold number of other singles! (I think Scritti Politti or the Durriti Column did something similar)

Crass? There is a name I've not heard in a long time...a long time.
I had a shortlived infactuation with Crass during the heady-meady days of the early 90s. I own pretty much everything they did and went to see Steve Ignorant's other band "Schwarzenegger" (who were s***e).
Every now and then I reach for one of the albums before thinking...Nah! Then I remember to go out, breathe in the air and find something better to do than listen to outdated agit-punk...but for angst-ridden angry young men nobody beats the "Crass".

*Goes up stairs and roots around for a bit*
I listen to them from time to time. 'The Feeding of the 5000' is the only recording of theirs that i have in my collection. It's a pity i have it on CD rather than original vinyl, but hey, i'm a sellout.

The first record i ever bought was "Feeding of the 5000" (first sitting too!). I had to see an educational psycologist after taking "Reality Asylum" to the school disco as my favorate record!
Brilliant band, i'm amazed their isn't a biography, because they really were a seminal band, very important and pivotal both politically and mucially.
I still listen to them regularly.
Conflict were a tremendous band too. "The Guilt and the Glory" - i wish i still had that.
And the Poison Girls, great band, had all thier stuff reissued and nicely repackaged by Cooking Vinyl Records.

Crass must be one of the most controversial punk bands ever. A few years ago a band called Choking Victim came along and did some pretty unacceptable things, but for me Crass are still ahead of them in the offensive league table. I was far too young to even know of punk's existence during the 80s, and when 'The Feeding of the 5000' was released my parents hadn't even met. Although i may now have my youth, i often feel like i missed out on so much
It's a shame that there are hardly any guide entries about punk bands. I think that bands' huge discographies, lack of information for research and the fact that nobody in Peer Review has heard of the UK Subs, Crass or the Dead Kennedys (to name a few of the 'well known in punk circles but hardly known at all by normal people' bands) are factors which prevent more entries being written. A Crass entry would be great.
I was looking at some Conflict vinyl today, but as i'm not really familiar with the band i didn't buy any. Perhaps i should have in hindsight, as it wasn't that expensive...
