last 2 years I promised myself I'd not watch such a show. Only to get hooked 1/2 way in. This year started from word go. BUT no free video feed on C 4 website and a pretty dull crowd means I am losing interest already.

Was watch late last night on E 4 and they were talking about loo paper. I mean who in their right minds has conversation about loo paper smiley - biggrin

well, lots or h2g2ers....but i dont think it makes for very good tv.

do you think it will improve as te more boring people are voted out?

they only 5 minutes i've seen showed a crowd in the living area being embarressing and two guys hiding in the kitchen to get away from them and making supernoodles taste like s*it.

not patch on brian and the demon chicken monsters

but usually (and Brian was the exception) the boring ones stay in. The added twist of the public nominating someone in the 1st week without them knowing was a mean (but cool) trick.

but check out the stories on the C.4 site, there's more fun (IMHO) in reading these than seeing the edited highlights.

or perhaps i just look very young for my age!

I don't like the design of the new house. It wrecks all the camera angles. The only thing you seem to get is stuff on the sofa, long shots through the whole house and nothing in the garden. Plus all the contestants seem rather uninteresting, so I shan't be watching much more.

From the few hours of it I've seen (it was on in the oub I hasten to add, I wasn't watching out of choice), it seems they all swear so much that the vast majority of the time all you get to hear to birds signing and jets passing over smiley - erm

I *really* dislike Big Brother. The idea of it, more than the execution (since I haven't watched more than ten minutes of it ever, I can't comment on the quality).

The reason is this: When I watch TV, I want to see something that has required some thought to create. I want narrative. I want event. I want plot. I don't want a bunch of (apparently quite stupid) people sitting around talking about absolutely nothing. I like my entertainment to have been the product of some creative thought.

I feel much the same way about improvisational jazz - I prefer music that has been thought about, and shaped, not just made up on the spot.

Strangely enough, I like improvisational comedy (though not to the exclusion of all else). But I don't expect the denizens of the Big Brother house to possess the kind of wit required to make me laugh (except in derision).

For the same reason, the plethora of docu-soaps we're currently drowning in depresses me no end. I think I'll go and watch my DVD of Edge of Darkness again, just to make me feel better.

Jack-oh, back on dry land for three whole weeks...

I know what you mean. The first incarnation of something can be excellent and then the other channels pick up on it and do it to death! They never improve on anything.....

I find I'm listening to radio more and more and Radio 4 in particular.

Jeeps! I'm turning into my Dad!

They've all been arguing over the issue of 'peeing in the shower' over the last few days, which seems pretty trivial. But saying that, whose side would you take? Is it 'disgusting' or 'not worth worrying about'?
