If there are constables in the Dirk Gentley series, then he or his friend are probaly thinking of that. Posts are to few to support your last suggestion

Yes.
I think the consensus of people is that no constable is named in the 5 books of the HH trilogy.
I think the original poster's friend is mistaken.
He *may* be posting this as a deliberate "trolling" device. So far, he hasn't responded for several days, or contributed to the conversation. Classic trolling behaviour.

Yes, I wondered about that, too, thought it was quite rude to post a question and then ignore the answers- and they were even serious replies for once. So maybe you're right, and I'm just naive

Is there perhaps a Constable in the books? I mean the paintings. He did one of Stonehenge and of Hampstead Heath I believe, as well as loads of other places. Are these locations anywhere?

Hi there,
sorry I was offline over the last weeks
The story became much clearer : my friend tried to test my "Goon-Show-Knowledge" ...
Seems, I have to listen to the old tapes again ...
Anyway, many thanks for all postings ! Great community !
I´ll stay tuned !!!
Andy
