.... My sweetie wants to come see me again... I think it's evil that I can go to London for about $550 and he has to pay almost TWICE that...
I've suggested that maybe he fly one way into the States and one way out, since it seems you can only find true discounts on airfare LEAVING the U.S....
Thanks, for any help you can give....

I have booked a few times with Airline Network (http://www.airline-network.co.uk/), when flying from London to San Diego. I have done some extensive searching in the past for cheap flights and this company is one of the best.
I once got a direct flight from Gatwick to San Diego with BA for 250 quid. .
I think with the visa waiver programme the US and UK have got you have to have a return ticket, so don't think about a one-way. It is normally cheaper to fly TO the US from the UK than the other way around. Don't know why...
Hope this helps.

Yeah, so have I my dear!!!... but I found better rates at orbitz, for some odd reason, but this was the reverse route... I suggested hotwire and it only works from the United States out. Maybe they have a co.uk website we don't know of... Herrrmmm....
Good to see you online!!

Can't remember where Ian lives, but if it's in London, or if he knows someone in London who can pick up one of the Australian/New Zealand/South African freebies such as TNT Magazine, they always have ads for the cheapest flights

If he's flexible he can always chance his arm on a www.priceline.co.uk ... name your price and they'll see what they can do ...
When I was looking to go skiing over the New Year in Colorado I found return flights to Denver for just over £350 which wasn't bad considering we were looking a month before we wanted to go ...
With www.cheapflights.co.uk you can usually find a bargain or two ...

In case the bidding doesn't work out, I flew from London to Denver last June, and got a ticket a couple of weeks before departure with NorthWest for £360 (including tax) via the Airline Networks site, which definitely seemed the best of the online travel agent sites I tried.
I had to play around with departure/return dates a little to get the best price, and from a quick look just now, it does seem like July is a bit more expensive than June, but they may be worth a shot.
Good luck.

www.expedia.co.uk - always quite cheap in comparison to others. How old is your boyfriend? If he is 26 or under, or a full time student, with an ISIC or IYTC card he can get discounted flights...
From my own experience (until recently my boyfriend and I were also divided by the Atlantic ocean), it is possible to buy flights in Canada, but from London to a Canadian airport. This is probably also true in the U.S., and it works out cheaper than buying flights from the U.K.
Also, I have heard of a company which one can work for, taking packages on aeroplanes. I cannot remember exactly how it works, but it is all completely legal, and means that you can have really cheap airfares, the only problem is that I cannot remember the company's name, but they have a website so you may be able to find them through a search engine or something.
And if all else fails, there is always the postal system!
