I'm trying to get rid of profiles on my PC (Windows 98) (go ahead and laugh, it's okay)

Anyway, I've been using a profile for over a year - so my browser prefs, desktop prefs, and even (and this is key) internet connection information are stored in the profile, not on the default setting. Now I want to just use the default, and get rid of the profiles. Anyone know how to transfer my profile settings to the default without completely botching things up? I've managed to transfer some of it, such as most of my documents, but I'm having difficulties with the app settings, especially the internet related ones (Cookies too).

???

Best,

If you're the only person who uses it, just delete the profile. Your information should stick around. At least it does in Windows 95.

I tried that a couple of weeks ago, and my Outlook Express stopped working. So I'm not *sure* it works with Win 98.

Winbloze 98 profiles are totaly rediculous, if U want to continue using your current main user, but don't want the hassle of removing the profiles, try TweakUI, and give it your username and password as the default logon, so that every time windows starts, you get logged on automaticaly. if you realy want to get rid of profiles, the best option is to make extensive notes of your internet connection settings and copy your favourites directory to a safe place, then delete the profiles and turn them off from the networking control panel. i'll have closer look tonight and check what the quickest way of dealing with it is, if all of the above is a load of crap, sorry, it's been a while since I last dealt with someones unwanted profiles. there is a tech support shop in the space shopping centre at http://www.h2g2.com/F49752?thread=75284
