Well, what about Monty Python and the Holy Grail? If I remember correctly they come to a place called Castle Anthrax.

There is a street in America named Anthrax Street, or something, so perhaps that should also be banned.

Well, they are trying to get it renamed. But I wonder who ever came up with the idea of naming a street after a disease. Perhaps they will also start naming them after strange bodily functions now.

I don't think we'll ever see Escape from New York again either...

I saw a story about antrax street, and i think it was named as a referrence to the rock band of the same name.
i also saw the crows in dumbo as crows, nothing more, nothing less.
i'm not sure that revising historical cultural context to be more politically correct is a good thing... but, im sure there are those out there who would disagree...
executive orders (the clancy book) wasnt made into a movie....
I used to have a complete book of uncle remus' stories... in hindsight, i dont see it as a harmful cultural influence, it's a bunch of kids stories... but, i do see how it could be used to promote a racial bias, but only if a parent were promoting that bias...
I think the denzel washington movie that was referred to earlier was Under Siege, with Bruce Willis, right? thats the one with the terrorist bombings in NY, where the city goes under marshal law....

I don't remember that one. Honestly those action flicks all run together. But this I do know: Die Hard will never rear it's ugly head again.

It's od looking back through the "What really scares you" thread that no-one mentioned 'terrorists destroying towerblocks' at all. Disaster movies are so popular and yet we seem to not even learn from them.

And with good reason. Before September 11th they seemed preposterously silly. What is there to learn from the Poseidon Adventure? When caught under debris in the water, Shelley Winters is the gal you want on your side? Or maybe this from The Hunt for Red October: good Russian submarine captains ALWAYS have Scottish accents.

I don't suppose it will be any time soon that we'll be seeing the episode of The Simpsons where Barney "borrows" Homer's car and "leaves" it in New York parked (wheelclamped) between the twin towers at the WTC. It is one of the best episodes ever but I wonder when (if) we'll see it again.

Lady in a tree,
I think people will be sensitive for a while, maybe a few years, but then all of this stuff will be back. I seriously doubt that these things will be permanently wiped from memory.
One of the stories in The Onion a few days ago talked about all the US tv shows that had prevented episodes from airing (anything to do with terrorism, New York or especially the Twin Towers) are now rushing to create stories "ripped from the headlines," dealing with fictionaly Anthrax outbreaks, etc. At this point, it's just a joke, but I bet those shows like The Practice and Law & Order will air stories dealing with terrorism within a few months.
At some point, the respectful silence will give way to everyone wanting to talk about the tragedy.

Remember when Diana died several newspapers talked about how they would never buy paparazzi photos again, and people talked about how awful the tabloids had been in chasing the royalty like that. Only took about 6 months for everybody to forget about that.
Key: Complain about this post
