Could be, but language is included in HTML, the L oviously stands for language. I think the L stands for location as its getting it from somewhere. smiley - smiley

Universal Resource Locator.
example (that shouldn't get removed):

http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/

The bit before the colon (http) tells the browser what sort of connection is needed; http or https - normal and secure web, ftp - file transfer protocol, telnet - a telnet connection to a remote machine, file - a file on this machine.
The next bit (between the // and next /) is the actual machine to connect to - one of the bbc's web servers in this case.
Then there is the file to get /h2g2/guide/ This can be anything from a text file to html to dynamically generated stuff fron databases and perl or php scripts.

So there you go. More than you ever needed to know smiley - winkeye

A good source for meanings of all things webby is the "Free On Line Dictionary Of Computing" or FOLDOC which can be entered by searching the acronym or by [URL information removed by moderator]. It's an 'old' site and the path to its door is well beaten and has many friendly variations following the dot bit.
