H2G2 Game????
Rocket Rod Started conversation Aug 6, 2001
Just sat down to read one of my favorite British PC magazines, and one of the first articals to catch my wandering attention is titled 'The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy'. It seems a developer named Pan H2G2 wants to produce a game to rival the likes of Mario etc. Anyone else heard anything???

then again, the game's looks disappointing, bugblatters in pink and orange? and Vogons are supposed to look like they've been sugically altered from ugly sea-animals...
*sigh* I guess the best things in life can only be created on paper...
::humourous note:: that page has a bad grammer error "...Marvin Ford..." lol, I guess they havn't learned to use commas effectively yet, hope that doesn't doesn't happen in the game too, like happened soo many times in starship titanic...

I get (horrible) visions of Arthur doing a Sonic the Hedgehog or Mario Bros. It's a truely frightening thought!!!!

What you've seen of that game has been *really* early renderings of characters. I've seen the designs, walked through some early levels, seen the animation of some of the characters, and I have to say it looks really good, even at this early stage.
The developers are the h2g2 game team, who were spun off into a separate company. It's being published by Pan Interactive (a swedish company) and if nothing else it should be a very funny game.
So please don't slag off the extremely hard work of people you don't know based on a random paragraph and some very old pictures. At least wait until you can play a demo of the game before you slag it off.
And don't compare it with Starship Titanic - the constraints of that game (i.e. that it had to look like Myst) were in place before most of the developers came on board. They did a fine job given the restrictions they were under. I think most people didn't like it because it was a) too hard and b) they had to type real words to solve some of the problems.

oh no, i just didn't like the story line, I got sick of it, and that's saying a lot, because untill then i loved everything related to the guide...
*note* poeple should get to work on a palm-pilot-esque mini-version of the guide, priced at slightly less than the full set of Encyclopedia Britannica, as this would be a real seller if it could be updated from this site via pc...
